Pop Culture

  Pop culture has influence me so much since I came to American. When I came to Chicago, i started follow the American style. What they do, What they eat and fashion. Also, since I taking this class, I just notice I had follow the Pop culture, I don't even know what is Pop culture before. There are many different country people came to U.S. and we share our culture and learn together like in school. I had learn about the racist between each country people and the different we are. I think pop culture is what people follow even in the future. 

cultural identity

  In cultural identity, I had learn so many people are moving to other country and they try to re-build their own culture. Especially in American, there are lots of different country people moved here and they build their own culture in a place together. Like Chinese people, most of them live in Chinatown. The reason is they try to start a new life, but they don't want to forget their own culture. Some of the different people live in Chinatown too, because they like Chinese culture like food. we sharing our hobbies and what we do to other country people and we learn other too. That's what we live in Cultural Identity. 

Reading

  One reading that really impress me is 'They got to be carefully taught'. I learn it's really important to teaching and learning when you are in school. Why there are many racist around the world, because we are all different and we can learn that in school. It's really important to learn something when you are beginning to learn. Most of the teacher teach the wrong idea to the student and they will get change by that idea. Especially in American, there are many different people in the school, they may think why are they different to each other. So, teacher should tell them correctly where they from, and the race. If they get the wrong idea that will be forever in their mind. So, parents or teacher should teach them correct when they are beginning to learn. 

Music

  When I came to American, I started to listen English songs. I really like to listen those rock n roll music, it's really bring me back to my life. I love to listen Michael Jackson's music, because I think his music make me feel energetic and alive. Also, he is my first favorite singer, and he is black. I love to watch his MV, because he is king of pop and  his dance are really awesome. It's really sad he was died for me because his music is kinda change my life and really impress me. I hope everyone can still listen his music in the future. 

Movies

  There are many movies with Academy Award, and '12 Years a Slave' is one of the movie I had watch. The story was begin in 1853, Solomon was a free black man, and he was really good at violin, also had a good family. One day, he got invited to a party and two white man drunk him and sold him to the slave market. He lost his everything and freedom in that time. He work as a slave for free to his master, he usually get punishment for the work. Until 12 years ago, his friend finally found him and get him back to his home. This movie had a really sad story, but it's true story happened before. It's really impress me that we shouldn't racist any more and we are all equal. 

Second reading

  The second reading I had read about is "Home At Last". My impression of the reading is everyone had their own home, but if you move out of the house and you will lose anything, like you immigrate to other country you will change and lost yourself. There is one interesting that I had read about this reading, the author moved to American and he didn't follow his own culture because he already forgot it. I almost did the same too. When I came to American, like 5 years, now I almost forget my culture, because I don't really care about it and I follow American culture. The reason is I live in Chicago I don't think I still need to follow Chinese culture anymore, but I live around Chinese people so I do follow it. I think it's important to keep your culture because that will be your home and place to go. 

TV

  I don't really watch TV shows after I came to Chicago, but I did watch some of the advertising in TV. Many of the companies selling their information in TV, because they trying to make more money. They always using famous people for the advertising, because famous people can make those fans buying the product. This is the way that all companies did. I still watch some TV show, it make me learn some thing after I watch the Show. Different country will have different TV show. The first time I watch the American TV show, it make me hard to understand what it's about, because it's totally different thing you ever watch before. It makes me so confuse of that because  I don't understand much English.
